Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health awards nearly $265,000 in grants this quarter, advancing health Equity across the state

Parkersburg, W.Va. (Dec. 30, 2024) The Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health today announced its continued commitment to improving the health and well-being of West Virginians through seven new grants totaling nearly $265,000 awarded in the final quarter of 2024.
These grants build on the Fund’s success in supporting nonprofit organizations throughout the Mountain State, bringing the total 2024 commitment to West Virginia communities to nearly $1.5 million and more than $6 million since the Fund launched in 2021.
The Charitable Fund’s support this year tackles key Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) while furthering advancements in oral health, addressing substance use disorder, and improving both community and family health outcomes. This latest round of funding supports crucial initiatives across the state, including the following nonprofit organizations:
- University Physicians and Surgeons, Inc.
- West Virginia Independent Colleges and Universities
- Laurance Jones, III Childhood Language Center, Inc.
- Williamson Health and Wellness Center
- Rea of Hope Inc.
- West Virginia 211, Inc.
- Tug River Health Association, Inc.
